Secret Server – Enterprise Password Management Server
Review by on
Who can benefit from the functionality the Thycotic-developed Secret Server provides? Secret Server password management software is meant to be used in a corporate environment. Therefore its functionality could be used by any small or large company that wants to manage and protect its passwords.

Passwords come in whenever access to sensitive information needs to be restricted. Passwords can ensure that specific information is viewed by certain people, they can ensure that no prying eyes take a look at that information. But passwords themselves need to be protected – and this is where Secret Server comes in.

This application will help an organization manage and protect its passwords. Thanks to Secret Server access to all of the organization’s passwords is controlled from a central-web based repository. Furthermore Secret Server gives each member the ability to securely store, distribute and audit secrets like router passwords and service accounts.

There is one question you need to ask yourself: Is your organization still using Excel to store passwords? If the answer was affirmative, then perhaps you need to ask yourself another question: Why? Secret Server is a lot more convenient, a lot easier, safer, and it was purposefully built for this task. Secret Server integrates into the existing environment to manage and control access to critical privileged passwords using a central web-based repository.

Pros
  • Free for a single user
  • Easy to use
  • Control access to your passwords from a central, web-based repository
